As a business within the art sector, we have been introduced to pretty much all the different ways a picture can be framed and have also produced our own set of ‘how to’ videos. However, we recently came face to face with a new technique.
Our MD Tracey Brown (who is also an enthusiastic art collector) recently bought artwork by artist Nthabiseng Boledi Kekana through our client and friends at Undiscovered Canvas. This delicate mixed media piece includes gold leaf and a very long weave of Jax raffia fibre that cascades down from the head and beyond the base of the picture itself. It demands a bespoke framing solution that best shows off its elegant qualities.
Undiscovered Canvas gave their framers Art Form Factory freedom to work on the best solution, and they nailed it placing the piece between two pieces of glazed glass in a technique known as a Glass Float. The piece looks like it’s floating, and the overall look is simply beautiful especially as it’s outlined with a slim light wooden frame.
