The Old Lifeboat House as it’s known today is an iconic stone building perched right on the water’s edge just outside Porthleven harbour in Cornwall. Originally a place where brave souls launched their lifeboat to venture out in raging seas, it’s now home to something entirely different, and less dangerous. It’s become an art gallery!

Artist Mark Dale and The Old Lifeboat House, Porthleven, Cornwall.

Throughout the year, a variety of artists take their turn to occupy this gem for a week at a time to show off and sell their work to both locals and tourists. It’s a fabulous space and if it’s the true Cornish experience you want, here it is!

Every year our Marketing & Communications Manager Steve Bodie takes a trip down to Cornwall to soak up the art scene and indulge in a bit of coastal photography. Never missing the opportunity to visit the Old Lifeboat House, this time he met and purchased work off talented artist Mark Dale who had residency at the time. We thought it would be a good opportunity to promote Mark and TOLH.

About Mark Dale
Mark comes from generations of Cornish farmers and miners and at an early age decided that art and illustration was something that he enjoyed. We’re so glad he took it up professionally. His work captures the spirit of Cornwall beautifully. For more info visit his website:
