The Movember Foundation, Sotheby’s, D*Face, and a further selection of the world’s most influential street artists come together for a unique exhibition to help support Movember.
This well-established annual event sees men’s hairless faces sprouting some very dashing (and in some cases daunting but fun) moustaches, to help raise awareness of men’s health issues, including mental health, prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and male suicide. Movember owns the month of November!
“Against The Wall”
To be held at Sotheby’s in London, “Against The Wall” will involve a unique exhibition (a first in fact for New Bond Street) between 16th-19th of November, and an auction held on 20th November. The project will raise awareness and money to support The Movember Foundation and their ground-breaking mental health programmes.
On show and for sale will be 10 high value and (very) sort after contemporary art pieces donated by some of the world’s most prolific street artists.
“Against The Wall” is a concept born from a chance meeting between two Flight Logistics-ShipArtTM clients; D*Face (whose work is proudly exhibited on one of our ArtOnWheels delivery vehicles) and Ben Bowers from Movember Foundation (currently using our service to collect and deliver work for Against The Wall project).
So what’s the connection between street artists and the objectives of the foundation?
To quote D*Face (real name Dean Stockton) “It’s no secret that many artists across history, including myself, have battled with issues of isolation and loneliness. What street art brings to the table for both artist and viewer alike is a catalyst for conversation, a common point of reference for casual discussion and precisely what men struggling with their mental health are in need of.” (Content sourced from https://uk.movember.com)
How did Ben Bowers manage the logistics of bringing the work together from around the world?
This from Ben himself – “Flight Logistics – ShipArtTM have provided fantastic support for “Against the wall”. The complex logistics involved in transporting high value contemporary art pieces from around the world to a central location under tight deadlines, meant we needed a partner who not only understood our requirements but also had the experience and infrastructure (as well as working relationships with the artists), to efficiently deliver our curated pieces on time and within manageable budgets. We could not have done this without their expertise and guidance. It’s been a pleasure to work with the team.”
