An alternative to wooden crates: foam-lined tri-wall cases. They’re made from three layers of corrugated cardboard, reinforced with wooden struts at the sides, and lined with foam for extra protection against bumps. Strong but lightweight (though not recommended for very heavy, high-value, or extremely fragile items). Saves on cost too if wooden crate not require.

When shipping items that contain glass, they’re most at risk from impact, vibration, and pressure, not just rough handling.
A professional packer knows how to:
• Use the right inner materials (protective film, foam wrap, and cushioning that prevents movement)
• Build rigid outer protection (crate or tri-wall case with shock-absorbing void fill)
• Isolate the glass from stress points that DIY packaging often overlooks
If the packaging isn’t right, nothing else will protect the item.
